Magnographs are "drawings" created by manipulating magnetic viewing film through the influence of magnetic forces. This work continues Heller's search for novel methods to visualize the invisible yet fundamental forces that impact humanity, often taken for granted due to their inconspicuous nature.

Balarama Heller lives and works in New York City. His practice reimagines archetypal symbols found in the natural world. He explores primal symbols and patterns, both real and imagined, working towards a visual language of preverbal awareness. His work is regularly featured in The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Atlantic and Aperture Magazine. Recent group exhibitions include Poetic Record, curated by Deana Lawson at Princeton University, Skeletal Hand on the Glass Harmonic at Snow Gallery, Brooklyn, Smoking at The Bunker Art Space West Palm Beach, and Maelstrom, at 303 Gallery, New York.
